JUNONA LAKE (Chandrapur – Maharashtra – India)



The Junona lake, named after the village Junona in the state of Maharashtra is a beautiful scenic lake, around 8 kms from the town of Chandrapur. The Junona lake is surrounded by a jungle of the same name and houses a rich variety of flora and fauna. It is a natural and historic location, especially loved by wildlife tourists.

The Junona lake is a freshwater lake. The forest around it is a hotpot for wildlife, and the whole area is very scenic. Various migratory birds visit the lake during different seasons around the year. There are also various kinds of wild animals like tigers and leopards that can be frequently spotted the area. According to a study, the lake itself houses nineteen species. The Junona lake, with a rich greenery surrounding it because of the dense Chichpalli forest is a good location to be visited by the tourists.

Tourists can perform a number of activities around the Junona lake. The calm around the place is addictive and it brings you closer to nature. One can boat, swim and even fish at the lake. Trekking around the jungle is also an adventurous experience. A resort and amusement park that goes by the name of Junona Birds Resort Private Limited is also a must visit place while visiting the Junona lake. The lake is like heaven for bird watchers because of the various birds that migrate to the lake frequently. The best time to visit the place would be during November to February.
